Day 2
Adelaide to Kangaroo Island
Setting off the next day, you’re going to head for the ferry that will take you and your camper across to Kangaroo Island.
Once you've landed in charming Penneshaw, your island exploration begins. Stroll through the coastal town's cosy streets, grab some fish and chips by the beach, and soak in the relaxed vibes. Make sure not to miss out on the Seal Bay Conservation Park where you can get up close and personal with adorable Australian sea lions. It's a wildlife encounter you won't forget!

Day 3
Kangaroo Island to Victor Harbour
Distance 163km - Driving Time 3 hours
The journey continues, and next up on the road trip travel itinerary is Victor Harbour. To get here, you’re going to need to catch the ferry from Penneshaw to Cape Jervis. Then, once you're back on the mainland, it's an easy 1.5-hour drive to Victor Harbour.
When you arrive in Victor Harbour, you're in for a treat when it comes to activity options. Stroll along the stunning esplanade, gaze at the iconic horse-drawn tram and go for a walk to Granite Island and ride the horse tram!

Day 4
Victor Harbour to Keith
Distance 223km - Driving Time 2 hours 46 minutes
Next on the journey is the town of Keith. To get here you’ll enjoy a scenic drive through charming towns and beautiful landscapes.
Along the way we love to stop in at Meningie to stretch our legs and look around. This lakeside location is perfect for grabbing a bite and enjoying the views before hitting the road again.
Once you arrive in Keith, you’ll get a sense of the friendly atmosphere and community feel. Nature lovers should check out the nearby Mount Monster Conservation Park where you can enjoy one of the many walks for all fitness levels.

Day 5
Keith to Mount Gambier
Distance 220km - Driving Time 2 hours 30 minutes
From Keith it’s then onto Mount Gambier which promises to be a lovely journey along gorgeous landscapes.
When you arrive at Mount Gambier, there are a few must-visit spots. The iconic Blue Lake is an incredible natural wonder that will leave you in awe with its incredible turquoise waters. Then, visit the Cave Gardens, which are a group of incredible limestone cliffs that are sure to amaze. When it’s time for a picnic lunch, we recommend visiting the Valley Lake Park, and then after lunch you can stroll through the gardens, taking in the scenery.
The Mount Gambier Central Caravan Park is a great place to rest for the night in your maui campervan as they offer modern amenities and a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 6
Mount Gambier to Port Fairy
Distance 154km - Driving Time 1 hour 54 minutes
The road trip continues and next on the itinerary is Port Fairy. This easy drive will take a little under 2 hours and will have you winding through charming towns and picturesque landscapes.
To break up the drive we suggest stopping in Portland and picking your own strawberries! You can load up your campervan fridge with these juicy strawberries to enjoy with a picnic lunch later.
Once you arrive in Port Fairy you’ll discover a historic fishing town with character-filled streets. While here, make sure to visit Griffiths Island for a dose of nature as you take in the sights of the lighthouse and wander along the serene walking trails.
When it's time to rest, Gardens Caravan Park in Port Fairy offers a comfy stay and is out go-to. Set right on the water, you’ll feel an instant sense of relaxation as you look out over the water from your campsite.

Day 7
Port Fairy to Apollo Bay
Distance 185km - Driving Time 2 hours 35 minutes
From here it’s on to Apollo Bay, a charming seaside town with so much to offer.
Along the way we recommend stopping off to stretch your legs at Warrnambool. This coastal town is filled with history and relaxing vibes. Be sure to check out Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village and the Middle Island Maremma Project to get a good sense of what this town is all about.
Then, once you arrive in Apollo Bay, you’re in for a treat, whether you’re a beach lover or nature lover. You can soak up some sunshine at the picturesque beach, or enjoy a walk in nature in the Great Otway National Park.

Day 8
Apollo Bay to Queenscliff
Distance 145km - Driving Time 2 hours 11 minutes
Heading from the charming Apollo Bay to picturesque Queenscliff is next on the travel itinerary. The journey will take you just over two hours and is an easy drive with some lovely spots along the way to enjoy a picnic lunch and stretch your legs.
Queenscliff is such a lovely town that we love to visit on a road trip. Once here, dive into history by strolling through the town's historic corners, and be sure to visit the Queenscliff Maritime Museum which is a treasure trove of nautical stories. If you’re up for a scenic ride through the countryside then hop onto the Bellarine Railway.

Day 9
Queenscliff to Melbourne
Distance 106km - Driving Time 1 hour 48 minutes
The last leg of the journey has you arriving in the vibrant city of Melbourne. The drive from Queenscliff to Melbourne will take you just under 2 hours to complete and will be a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what is sure to have been a wonderful holiday.
Once you get to Melbourne you’ll be spoilt for choice of what to do in this bustling urban playground, so we recommend adding an extra day to explore.
From exploring Federation Square's art vibes, catching a cricket match at the MCG, enjoying a feast at Queen Victoria Market, or strolling through the Royal Botanic Gardens, there is something for everyone in the city.
