This was my second time touring the South Island with a maui motorhome, and it was just as good (if not better) than the first time! We had the 6 berth Maui and it was absolutely awesome with so much space for us to cook, chill out, have dinner, sleep,  shower, drive, play cards. It was so easy to get around in, and being a photographer it was important that we were able to go to all the places we wanted to visit with ease. It definitely met our needs and then some.

Our plan for this trip was to visit places we’d never been to before, starting in Christchurch and finishing is Queenstown. We were blessed with some amazing weather, incredible views, perfect driving conditions and even more perfection for photography. We made our way through the Canterbury Lakes, Mackenzie Country, Queenstown, Milford Sound and back to Queenstown without any issues at all, and it was all very easy.

I can't begin to describe how incredible it is to be able to travel with your accommodation on wheels. During the day we were able to choose the best spots to park and have lunch, admire the scenery, lounge in the sun. The same went for afternoon teas and dinners, and then at the end of the day we were able to make use of the freedom camping spots available to us, and very reasonably priced DOC camps and camping grounds. Because getting up early is a must for a landscape photographer,  we were able to park fairly close to the destinations I needed to be for sunrise photography, which meant maximising sleep and driving time and not having to worry about extended driving to get to particular spots for sunrise.

We had such a great time on this trip with Maui, and I would highly recommend going by camper with this awesome company. It really is the best way to see New Zealand, and one of the most affordable ways to do it.
